The manga series, Hajime no Ippo (ã¯ã˜ã‚ã®ä¸€æ©?, lit. "The First Step") is written and illustrated by George Morikawa and serialized in Kodansha's Weekly ShÅnen Magazine. The first volume was released on February 17, 1990 and is currently ongoing; numbering over 1000 chapters making it the 11th longest manga series. The manga was adapted into two anime featured films in 2003 and a TV anime series in 2009 which concluded in the same year.
The manga currently has more than 100 tankÅbon volumes published in Japan by Kodansha. The first manga volume released on February 17, 1990 and the 100th on July 17, 2012 .
